Javier Camarena will sing the National Anthem in Houston

The tenor Javier Camarena will sing National Anthem in the classic of classics, America vs. Chivasto be held in Houston, Texasthis Sunday, October 13 at 4:00 p.m. in Mexico City.

“I think that any Mexican always feels this special pride when singing our National Anthem. For me it is an honor and I am immensely grateful to have received this invitation to give voice to the notes of this work that represents our country,” said the singer.

He also mentioned that he feels “doubly excited” as it is an international event that celebrates one of the classics of Mexican soccer in Houston, Texas.

“Not only will my voice sing to Mexico, my soul and heart will accompany it for love of my land,” he added.

Who is Javier Camarena?

Mexican tenor recognized by the International Opera Awards organization as Male Singer of the Year and has positioned himself as one of the most prominent and requested artists. He is the only singer in history who has performed in three different productions at the MET in New York: The Cenerentola (2014), Don Pasquale (2016) and the Fille du Régiment (2019).

He repeated this feat in the Fille du Régiment at the Teatro Real in Madrid, at the Liceu in Barcelona, ​​as well as at the Royal Opera House where he performed his aria in each of its four performances.

He has received numerous honors, including the Opera News Award (2020), the Opera Medal of Fine Arts, the ISPA Distinguished Artist Award, and the Mozart Medal (all 2019). In 2014, his hometown of Xalapa awarded him the Sebastián Lerdo de Tejada Medal as a distinguished citizen.
