Together with his parents, his sister and his daughter, Javier Acosta said goodbye to this world. A young fan of Millonarios fulfilled his wish to die by the euthanasia method because he could not bear the pain and the decline in the quality of his life due to osteomyelitis, a disease he acquired five years in a swimming pool in Melgar. Javier died after 12:00 pm this past Friday, August 30th.

In recent days, the young fan of Millonarios became famous for his messages of strength and determination in his decision to die with dignity.

The euthanasia, at the request of the family, was carried out privately. Experts from the University Hospital of San Ignacio in Bogotá had the difficult task of applying the procedure.

“On behalf of the family we give special thanks to everyone who has been in contact and with Javier personally and through messages of love and concern. The hospital reported through a statement sent by the young man’s family.

All morning Dozens of people gathered outside the medical center to say goodbye to someone they see as an icon of bravery and strength. In videos published on social networks, you can see the fans of the ‘Blue Commandos’ who, by singing, say goodbye to one of their strongest members.

“Javi. Dear Javi, the Commandos will never forget you! they shouted as they waved the flags of the Bogotá team.

And at that moment, exactly, is when Javier is seen for the last time, who, from the top of a window in the hospital rooms, was waving a Millonarios shirt, as a sign of gratitude to those who, during those days, has been. he helped.

Farewell to his daughter

“Thinking about my life without my legs, in bed, on antibiotics, watching my daughter take care of me and losing the chance of childhood and adolescence, I said I want euthanasia.” These words spoken by Javier, a few days before his death, summarize very well the reasons that led him to make a complex decision.

He revealed that he spoke to his little daughter who, with tears in her eyes, supported him from the start. “She wipes her eyes and you know what she tells me: ‘Look Daddy, I’m going to be honest with you, I love you, but I’d rather you be in heaven with Daddy God than here and see you suffering in a bed crying in pain .’ Think of my daughter’s maturity,” Javier recalled.

In addition to that conversation, the girl who is about to turn 12 years old He sent him an emotional message: “Dad, I love you with my life, you are the first love of a girl, of a woman, you are my life, but I would rather you were with God than to see you suffer in a bed.”

Letter to your pet

The sad farewell did not end there. Before entering the hospital, Javier decided to put his dog ‘Katy’ up for adoption. The Adopt a Good Friend Chan Foundation was in charge of getting him. That same entity, in a gesture of solidarity, He wrote a letter on behalf of his pet, his faithful companion.

“Daddy @rolomillos_13, Your bold, believing daughter writes to you, the light in your eyes and your faithful companion, Katy. Today I just want to thank you for choosing me as your adventurous partner, the two of us kept each other company and I don’t know if I saved you or you saved me.” says the letter published on social networks.

He also received a call from his biggest idol, Radamel Falcao García who, in the company of his wife, promised him that she would pray for him and, as soon as he scored his first goal with Millonarios, that he would look in heaven and dedicate it to him.

And the 36-year-old’s enthusiasm for the blue team was that good. In one of his videos, as a joke, he makes sure to “pull” the legs of the Millonarios players if they don’t win their matches.

“And crazy, I’m going to go to heaven and, I’m going to grab and pull the legs of the ‘millos’ players to see if they move and we win… Always happy, until the 90th minute and more”, he finished with a smile, because it was Javier.
