“From Rio de Janeiro via New York and Chicago, the artistic and cultural work of Jaume Plensa has toured the world and will stop this summer in our beautiful city. For the very first time, the City of Mons will be offering an unprecedented outdoor exhibition, imagined by our museum centre”, announces Nicolas Martin, mayor of Mons, on Facebook.
“Around twenty installations and monumental sculptures by the Spanish sculptor will be set up in Mons public space (from the Grand-Place to the Sainte-Waudru collegiate church, via the Mayeur garden and the Saint-Georges hall). The BAM being closed for works, it is therefore a good alternative that we have thought of, “says the mayor, arguing that the goal is to attract tourists to the city center so that it has an impact on the tradespeople.
The exhibition is scheduled from July 1 to October 8.
