Actor Jasper Pääkkönen will star in the upcoming film Vares X in the movie, his old familiar character Kyypakkaus. Pääkkönen has already played a role in six Vares films. The last time Pääkkönen stepped into Kyypakkaus’ boots was in 2015.

Iltalehti interviewed Pääkkö on the set of the film. The actor says that it was easy to agree to the role from many points of view.

– Markus of Selin called and asked if I could consider doing the role of Kyypakkaus one more time. Markus is my longest-standing friend from the film industry. We have known each other forever and have done a tremendous amount of work together. We are good friends and it was quite easy to think about jumping back into the role of Kyypakkaus.

– This is how many times I play Kyypakkaus. It’s a bit like jumping into old familiar boots. There’s no need to reheat something while it’s still in the memory, even if it’s been ten years since the last time.

According to Pääkkönen, his scenes are shot for only three days.

– This is a quick little thing. Everything will be filmed during this week.

Pääkkönen says that he only came to Finland for a week and then flies back abroad.

Career abroad

Pääkkönen’s international career moves forward slowly. Pääkkönen says that Hollywood has had strange years behind it. There have been many long strikes in the film industry in the country, which have affected filming and even stopped it. – I’ve done some test shoots from time to time. There have been some near misses. Nothing significant has been encountered so far. Nothing that I would have wanted to join, Pääkkönen says.

Summer plans

The actor is also known as a hard-working fisherman. Pääkkönen tells Iltalehti that fishing opportunities have been few and far between recently.

– My guess is that summer fishing will be limited to one or two significant trips, Pääkkönen told about his summer plans.
