Featured at Ghostbusters: The Legacy, Jason Reitman also directs the end-of-year commercial of the apple brand.
As part of its desire to l’iPhone 13 Pro a professional-quality film-making device, Apple is once again seeking a famous director. After Michel Gondry, the smartphone giant has just asked Ivan and Jason Reitman to carry out its Christmas 2021 advertisement, marking the first co-production collaboration of the father and the son.
Saving Simon
Baptized « Saving Simon », the film tells us the story of a little girl who tries to keep her snowman. To the tune of « You and I » by Valerie June, the film follows a young girl who desperately tries to preserve the magic of Christmas all year round.
When his snowman starts to melt when the weather is fine, she places it in her family’s freezer. When winter finally returns, her family helps her pull out what’s left of the snowman. The latter is finally back in front of the house for this new Christmas period, but all will not go as hoped.
Fully shot with a iPhone Pro 13, the short film has in store for us a striking finale that we will not reveal to you here.

A version of 60 seconds advertising will be shown on broadcast and online television services. A full three minute film is posted on YouTube (watch below) and specific 6 and 15 second short films broadcast on digital and social media. . Apple is also releasing a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of « Saving Simon » on Youtube.
