The 28 year old from Garfagnana, finalist at Roland Garros and Wimbledon and Olympic gold in Paris in doubles paired with Sara Errani, she gains two positions in the WTA ranking and rises to number 4 in the world equaling the best position achieved in the rankings by an Italian tennis player Francesca Schiavonewho on 31 January 2011 came within a step of the top 3. Paolini – the first Italian player since 2015 on the court at the WTA Finals (2-9 November in Rad) – is qualified for both singles and doubles.
