Jasa Marga to Operate Jakarta-Cikampek II South Toll Road Functionally for 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year Holidays with Free Access

Jakarta

PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk will operate the Jakarta-Cikampek (Japek) II South Toll Road on the 8.5 kilometer (km) Sadang-Kutanegara section functionally during the 2023 Christmas and 2024 New Year (Nataru) holidays. This functional toll road is opened without tariffs, aka free.

However, the South Japek II Toll Road is only operated on the Nataru reverse flow. The 2023 Christmas return flow starts around December 26, while the 2024 New Year return flow will be on January 1.

“Japek II Selatan will operate part of the Japek II Selatan toll road package 3, namely Sadang to Kutanegara. So this functional route will support the return flow from the 223 Christmas Holidays, and also later the return flow of New Year’s traffic in 2024,” said the Technical Director of PT Jasamarga Japek Selatan Iman Sulaiman during a site visit to the Japek II Selatan Toll Road, Monday (18/12/2023).

Meanwhile, Jasa Marga’s Corporate Communication and Community Development Group Head, Lisye Octaviana, said that road users from Bandung can enter via the Sadang access, around KM 77 of the Cipularang Toll Road.

“We are preparing a functional section in South Japek II that is 8.5 km long, starting from the Sadang access to the Kutanegara toll gate, here later toll road users can enter via the Sadang access in Cipularang and exit at the Kutanegara toll gate,” he explained.

After exiting the Kutanegara Toll Gate, road users can continue their journey to Industrial Road for 15 km, then enter the East Karawang toll gate again. Meanwhile, to enter the West Karawang Toll Gate, road users can travel 27 km.

“Then enter the industrial road, the national road. Then later you can re-enter the East Karawang or West Karawang Toll Gate towards Jakarta and return to Japek,” he added.

For information, this functional toll road will be opened with several notes. One of them is only operated situationally, according to police discretion. Then only small class I non-bus vehicles can pass.

The consideration, said Iman, is that this toll road is still functional so it needs to guard against unwanted things. Apart from that, there are 3 other points that need to be fulfilled regarding the functional operation of Japek II Selatan.

“First, if the density on the South Japek II Toll Road has reached km 70 from the main Cikampek Toll Gate, which is in the Trans Java direction. So the traffic direction from Java to Jakarta has reached the queue at km 70, and the traffic direction from South Java, “From Cipularang or from Bandung to Jakarta there was a queue at km 72 for approximately 1 hour,” explained Iwan.

Second, there was a busy queue at the Kalitama or Kalihurip Utama Toll Gate for approximately 5 kilometers, or reaching km 72 of the Cipularang section for 1 hour. This functional toll road operation will also see congestion on arterial routes.

“Then from there the police will also evaluate together with us, we will also see whether the arterial situation on Industrial Road is still able to accommodate vehicles that will exit the Kutanegara toll gate,” said Lisye.

Free Functional Toll

As long as it operates functionally, this toll road is free of charge.

“Because it is functional, there are no tariffs, because it is functional, so if there is a transaction at the Kutanegara Toll Gate, that is the amount of the tariff that road users will be charged when entering from a particular toll gate in Cipularang,” said Lisye.

“For example, from the Pasteur or Buah Batu toll gates, the rate is the same as when they exit at the Sadang toll gate. It’s just that the transaction is made here, at the Kutanegara toll gate, at the same rate,” he continued.

Likewise, Technical Director of PT Jasamarga Japek Selatan Iman Sulaiman explained that transactions at the Kutanegara Toll Gate are only to pay the fare that users pass when entering the existing toll road. “Users only make transactions to pay the fares they have passed since the toll road user entered the existing toll road that has been entered,” he said.

The 2023 Christmas return flow starts around December 26, while the 2024 New Year return flow will be on January 1. Road users from Bandung can enter via the Sadang access, around KM 77 Cipularang Toll Road.
