Jaren Jackson Jr. agrees to 4-year, $ 105 million rookie extension

Memphis Grizzlies forward Jaren Jackson Jr. has agreed to a four-year, $ 105 million rookie contract extension, his agent, CAA Sports’ Austin Brown, told ESPN.

Grizzlies general manager Zach Kleiman and Brown finalized details on the deal by 6:00 p.m.

Jackson planned to sign the contract Monday morning at the Grizzlies’ practice facility.

The 22-year-old Jackson has become a pivotal player on a roster of talented young Grizzlies and has proven to be one of the most versatile and dynamic young greats.

Jackson was Michigan State’s fourth pick in the 2018 NBA draft and has teamed up with point guard Ja Morant to build one of the most promising young duos in the league.

Jackson missed a significant portion of the 2020-21 season recovering from a meniscus injury, but he has regained his full strength this preseason. He has averaged 15.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in his three NBA seasons.

The deadline for the rookie extensions class of 2018 is Monday, and so far, Trae Young from Atlanta, Luka Doncic from Dallas, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander from Oklahoma City, Michael Porter Jr. from Denver, Mikal Bridges from Phoenix and Boston’s Robert Williams III are among the players who signed extensions.
