Jared Leto returns as the Joker in Zack Snyder’s Justice League, reports The Hollywood Reporter Wednesday.
It is not known whether Leto is in the original version of Justice League (2016) or that it is an addition to the new version. However, he is this week with the main cast at the extra recordings for the film.
Leto played in the Joker Suicide Squad, but his role was controversial. Studio Warner Bros. would have drastically shortened his contribution, because early screenings would have reacted negatively to Leto’s acting. This happened much to the dismay of Leto and Suicide Squaddirector David Ayer.
In recent years, Ayer several times told that Leto’s role in the first version of the film was many times greater. According to the director, the audience has never seen Leto’s version of the Joker as it was intended.
The 48-year-old actor now gets a second chance in the miniseries Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which will air on HBO Max in 2021.
