Mori Trust Co., Ltd. announced on the 18th that it will attract and open “1 Hotel Tokyo” (211 rooms) within the large-scale mixed-use project “Tokyo World Gate Akasaka” (Minato-ku, Tokyo).

This is the first entry into Japan of the “1 Hotels” brand developed by US hotel management company SH Hotels & Resorts. The company operates 1 Hotels, Baccarat Hotels & Resorts, and Treehouse Hotels. To date, the company has opened 14 hotels in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and China.

1 Hotels is a luxury lifestyle hotel brand that offers sustainable design that incorporates nature and high quality services. Since opening in Miami and Manhattan in the United States in 2015, it has expanded to Canada, the United Kingdom, and other locations in addition to the United States. Projects are currently underway in Paris, Copenhagen, Melbourne, and other locations.

“1 Hotel Tokyo” is located on the 38th to 43rd floors of “Akasaka Trust Tower.” Oya stone, a material unique to Japan, is used for the entrance and elevator hotel to give a sense of solidity, and natural solid wood is also used extensively. It creates a sense of warmth and allows people to fully experience the charm of natural materials.

All guest rooms will feature real plantings, and the public areas will incorporate elements that give the feel of a Japanese garden. Water servers have been installed in the guest rooms instead of bottled water. Efforts will be made to raise awareness of water resources throughout the guest’s stay, such as installing an hourglass in the shower room to prevent guests from using it for long periods of time. On-site facilities include a restaurant, cafe, fitness center, spa, pool, and meeting rooms.

At a press conference on the same day, Mori Trust President Miwako Date said, “1 Hotels’ concept is to respect the natural environment and recreate a deep connection with nature. I am delighted that “Tokyo” will open in the sky above Akasaka.” Raul Real, CEO of SH Hotels & Resorts, said, “1 Hotel Tokyo is more than just a luxury hotel brand. We offer meals made with local ingredients and experiences inspired by the region. It is characterized by management that respects local culture.”

The opening is scheduled for fall 2025. Please refer to past news regarding Tokyo World Gate.
