Japan’s women’s tennis representative Naomi Osaka (3rd in the world ranking) won the Australian Open.

On the 20th (Korean time), in the ‘2021 Australian Open’ women’s singles final held in Melbourne, Australia, Osaka beat Jennifer Brady (US, 24th place) 2-0 (6-4 6-3) to reach the top of the tournament. Osaka won the championship trophy and won A$2.75 million (about 2.4 billion won).

With this, Osaka won the fourth major championship trophy in his personal career, increasing his record of’most singles wins in major Asian players’. Osaka won the US Open last year, surpassing Lina (two times, China) and holding the record for the most singles wins in major Asian players.

Osaka won the Australian Open the following year and the 2020 US Open after reaching the top of their first major tournament at the 2018 US Open.

In addition, Osaka became a player who won all four major singles finals in 30 years after Monica Celes (retired, USA) in 1991.

In the beginning of the first set, Osaka and Brady played a tight match 4-4, breaking each other’s sub-games. After that, Osaka defended his sub-game and overturned the match behind Brady’s sub-game by 15-40, successfully breaking through and winning the first set with 6-4.

Osaka grabbed the momentum and played a one-sided match in the second set. Osaka succeeded in two consecutive breaks at the beginning of the second set and advanced 4-0.

In the fifth game, he gave his sub game, but he did not shake. Osaka quickly rearranged the line, no longer giving up its own sub-game, and finished the game in 1 hour and 17 minutes.
