Conditions where pollen is easy to fly are likely to continue from tomorrow onwards. The area where cypress pollen is scattered will gradually expand.
March 29, 2024 15:25
Starting tomorrow, the 30th (Saturday), there will be many warm days across the country, making it easier for pollen to fly. In many places, the scattering of cedar pollen has passed its peak, but from this point on into April, the scattering of cypress pollen will become more serious. People with hay fever need to continue to take proper measures.
Until the 2nd (Tuesday), many places will be sunny and the warmth of spring will be felt.In most places, there will be “extremely large” amounts of pollen.
From tomorrow the 30th (Saturday) to the 2nd (Tuesday), it will be sunny in many places nationwide. Temperatures are rapidly rising under the sunshine, with most places from the Kanto region to the west reaching a maximum of 20 degrees Celsius or higher into the 2nd (Tuesday). Tomorrow the 30th (Saturday) and the day after tomorrow the 31st (Sunday) in Tokyo are likely to be summer days with maximum temperatures of 25℃ or higher.
Pollen is more likely to fly on sunny days in spring when the temperature rises, and until the 2nd (Tuesday), most places from Kyushu to Tohoku have “extremely large” amounts of pollen flying. If you have hay fever, please take all possible precautions.
It will rain intermittently in western Japan on the 3rd (Wednesday), which will reduce the amount of pollen dispersion. On the other hand, there are many places in eastern Japan such as Tokyo where it starts to rain in the afternoon, and it is expected that pollen will be more likely to fly by the time the rain starts.
The weather will gradually improve on the 4th (Thursday), and it looks like pollen will be more likely to fly again, including in western Japan.
From the time the cherry blossoms bloom, the season will change from cedar pollen to cypress pollen, and the amount of cypress pollen being dispersed is expected to increase rapidly.
Peak period of cedar and cypress pollen (Kyushu to Tohoku)
Cedar pollen has already passed its peak in many places. Tokyo and Sendai will soon reach their peak. In many places, the peak period lasted from about 10 days to a month, but in Hiroshima and Takamatsu, the amount of scattering this year remained lower than usual, and the peak period was shorter and clearer than usual. No peaks appeared.
Cypress pollen has begun to scatter from Kyushu, Kinki, and Tokai to parts of Kanto and southern Tohoku. In China and Shikoku, there will be many places where the start of dispersal will be confirmed towards the end of March. From now on, there will be many warm days until early April, and the scattering of cypress pollen is expected to increase rapidly. Early April will be the peak of cypress pollen in a wide area. The peak period is expected to last approximately one to two weeks. The amount of pollen scattered increases on sunny days and strong winds, so please take thorough measures against pollen. In Sendai, the amount of cypress pollen scattered is small, and no clear peak is expected to appear.
