Japanese government data released today, Tuesday, showed that the unemployment rate in Japan fell to 2.6% in April, compared to 2.8% in March, while analysts had expected it to drop to 2.7% only.

The Japanese Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications stated that the rate of job availability in Japan during the past month amounted to 1.32 jobs per job seeker.

The number of unemployed people in Japan decreased during the past month by 150 thousand unemployed compared to the previous month.

Bloomberg news agency stated that the labor market data reflect some positive developments for the Japanese economy, which is showing more signs of recovery from the repercussions of the emerging Corona virus pandemic. At the same time, the continued decline in the unemployment rate will boost wage growth, which will help record the inflation rate in Japan at the level targeted by the government and the Japanese Central Bank, which is 2%.
