A Japanese tourist was confirmed dead several hours after completing a bungee jump ride at Macau Tower, Macauon Sunday (3/12).
Launching from the page VNExpress, the tourist was taken to Conde S. Januario Hospital for emergency treatment. Currently, investigations are still ongoing regarding this incident.
Bungee jumping is an extreme activity carried out by a person by jumping from a height with an elastic rope tied to the feet which will then pull the person up before touching the ground.
Meanwhile, site Skypark by AJ Hackett, the company that opened the bungee jumping ride, advises tourists to disclose any medical conditions they have before deciding to try bungee jumping.
Some conditions that should be disclosed before trying this vehicle are heart conditions, high blood pressure, diabetes and history of surgery.
Macau Tower is 338 meters high, and tourists who try this will hang 233 meters from the ground. This bungee jumping ride is the highest in the world.
This is not the first bungee jump accident to occur. In 2018, a Russian tourist was left dangling 180 feet in the air from Macau Tower.
The ride operator at the time claimed that the accident occurred because the backup safety system activated due to cold temperatures.
Apart from that, earlier this year, a tourist in Thailand had to fall from a height while doing a bungee jump and the rope that tied his legs was cut. As a result, he suffered serious injuries.
