If you’re so good as a scientist that you can replace yourself, have you done everything right? Yes, says Japanese engineer Hiroshi Ishiguro (60). He created not just one robot, but six of himself! And they look just like him too.
His latest version of the Geminoid HI-6 is so realistic that it can teach university courses, give lectures and answer students’ questions in its place, reports the “Daily Star“.

And boom – the engineer has already become unemployed. But to achieve this status he had to work quite a bit. The director of the Intelligent Robotics Laboratory at Osaka University in Japan built his first copy of the HI-1 robot 18 years ago. From the current version he says that the bot is more than adequate Ersatz be for him.
Hiroshi Ishiguro relied entirely on artificial intelligence. “The main feature of this version is its dialogue nature,” he told CNBC. “We integrated it into a large language model and then entered ten of my books and almost all of the media interviews. I originally used this robot to give lectures when I was busy. But now, after the lectures, this Geminoid HI-6 can answer the audience’s questions.”

Ishiguro sees many advantages. Because that robot never gets sick and doesn’t take vacation and doesn’t have to be paid. A little scary: The robot not only looks exactly like him – with real human hair and silicone skin – but also mimics his blinking, breathing, fidgeting and speech patterns.
By the way: The first robot was a replica of his daughter and this pioneering work contributed significantly to making Japan a world-leading country in the field of robotics.
