REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TOKYO – A company Japan find an ultraviolet light that can disinfect confined spaces and kill the corona virus. Lamp manufacturer Ushio Inc. and Columbia University developed the lamp Care 222 UV, the world’s first indoor cleaner that works against Covid-19.
The latest findings could be used in spaces where people are at high risk of contracting the virus, such as buses, trains, elevators and office spaces.
According to Ushio Inc., this lamp will emit UV rays with a wavelength of 222 nanometers and kill viruses without harming human health.
The company claims that at certain wavelengths, UV rays won’t cause genetic defects, skin cancer and blindness.
Care 222 is able to disinfect 99 percent of viruses and bacteria in the air in six to seven minutes. Ushio Inc. also said the lamp would sell for $ 2,870 and be prioritized for medical institutions.
