The Japanese car company Mazda will stop selling its mid-range model in the domestic market in April. The manufacturer does not promise a successor, devoting the vacant niche to CX family models.
After the Mazda 6 left the United States and Great Britain in 2021 and 2023, it is the turn of the domestic market. The manufacturer reports that the middle-class model, which is currently available in sedan and station wagon modifications, will be produced only until April.
Mazda Atenza (otherwise known as Mazda 6) entered the market in 2002, finding 226,437 buyers during this time period. The current model arrived in 2021, but the manufacturer does not promise a successor, planning to fill the vacant niche with models of the CX crossover family.
The end of production of the Mazda 6 in the Land of the Rising Sun means that the model will disappear from the markets where it was delivered from Japan, but it is not saying goodbye just yet, as there are countries outside of Japan where it is still produced.
The Mazda 6 is not the only mid-range model to go down in history without leaving a successor – Ford Mondeo, Opel Insignia and Renault Talisman also disappeared from the scene just as imperceptibly.
