Russia’s position on Japan’s decision to supply military equipment to Ukraine is unfair and unacceptable. This was stated by the Japanese Ambassador to the Russian Federation Toyohisa Kozuki, reports today, June 12, TASS.
As the agency informs, this statement of the Japanese diplomat became known from the lips of the General Secretary of the Cabinet of Ministers of Japan Hirokazu Matsuno at a press conference in Tokyo. A government spokesman said that the ambassador said this during a conversation with the deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry Andrey Rudenkoheld at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, where he was summoned after the relevant decision of the Japanese side.
According to Matsuno, the ambassador pointed out that “Russia’s claim regarding shifting responsibility to Japan is extremely unfair and absolutely unacceptable.”
The Secretary General of the Japanese government noted that Japan would continue to apply tough sanctions against Russia and at the same time provide support to Ukraine.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Tokyo’s decision to supply military equipment to Kiev leads to an escalation of hostilities, further drives Japan’s relations with Russia into a dangerous dead end and will not remain without consequences.
To date, the Japanese authorities have provided Ukraine with humanitarian, food, financial and other types of assistance totaling $7.6 billion.
