THE Japan has announced it plans to take the first astronaut to the moon in the second half of the decade, news coming after the country revised its calendar for future space missions.
It is noteworthy that this arrival of a Japanese astronaut on the moon is included in the Artemis program, an American initiative that comprises several missions that will take place in the coming years.
“Space is not only a frontier that gives people dreams and hope, it also provides a crucial foundation for our society in terms of economic security,” Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida pointed out.
In this review of Japan’s space exploration calendar it is also noted that the country’s space agency – Jaxa – plans to launch a probe to explore Mars in 2024, as well as find ways to generate solar electricity in space.
