Japan protests against North Korean missile firing through the Beijing embassy

Japan condemned North Korea’s launch of a short-range ballistic missile (SRBM) on the 9th.

Japanese Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada said the missile landed outside Japan’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and that North Korea’s missile launch “significantly increased” tensions in the region.

In addition, Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno said he had strongly protested against North Korea through the Chinese Embassy in Beijing.

Meanwhile, the Japanese Prime Minister’s office has instructed officials to take measures to ensure the safety of aircraft and ships in the event of a North Korean missile launch.

This launch comes four days after the launch of four ballistic missiles into the Western Sea from the Dongrim area of North Pyongan province on the 5th.
