Japan: North Korea fired 3 ballistic missiles which landed outside the economic zone

(CNN) – Japan’s Defense Ministry announced on Saturday that North Korea fired 3 ballistic missiles that landed in waters off the east coast of the Korean peninsula, which were outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone.

The defense ministry said in a statement that the missiles traveled about 350km (217 miles) at maximum altitudes of around 100km (62 miles).

The ministry condemned Pyongyang’s recent ballistic missile launches, saying North Korea’s repeated launches “threaten the peace and security of Japan, the region and the international community”.

He added, “The launch of such ballistic missiles violates relevant UN Security Council resolutions, and Japan has lodged a strong protest against North Korea.”
