Japan executes three prisoners for the first time since 2019

Death row prisoners committed murders 18 and 19 years ago. One of those executed has mental disorders.

In Japan, three death row prisoners were executed. The execution by hanging took place on 21 December. The portal informs about it. Japan Times citing government sources.

This execution was the first in the country since December 2019. The corresponding order was issued by the Minister of Justice Yoshihisa Furukawa. On taking office in October, he stated that the death penalty cannot be avoided for someone who “has committed a heinous crime with serious consequences.”

It is known that among those executed – Yasutaka Fujishiro, who suffered from mental disorders. In 2004, he killed seven people from two families who lived near him in the city of Kakogawa.

Two other men were also hanged, who robbed a slot machine hall in 2003 and killed an employee who worked there.

The last time a criminal was executed in Japan was on December 26, 2019. Then he turned out to be a citizen of the PRC, who killed a family of four in 2003.
