Japan establishes vaccine cold storage room in Oyem – Journal du Gabon

The new cold room planned for the storage of quality vaccines from the northern district health department was inaugurated on Thursday, October 3.

Japan, in partnership with the United Nations Children’s Program, has launched a program aimed at strengthening the cold chain infrastructure necessary for the effective distribution of vaccines against infectious diseases, even in the most remote areas of the country. During this dedication ceremony, Shuji Noguchi emphasized that the installation of Oyem’s cold room would allow rural populations better access to quality vaccines.

Before you add that, this will contribute to a significant improvement in health care, especially since this mechanism increases the survival of young children. According to the website of the Gabonese News Agency, which announced that the total cost of the program, which is estimated at 1.7 billion FCFA, allows the acquisition of various equipment such as generators and refrigeration vehicles, in addition to the units storage for vaccines.

Remember that the first cold room for storing vaccines was established in the town of Mouilla last July.
