First round

The Croatian national team started the first half trying to play up front. They implemented a massive attack, led directly by the midfield trio of Luka Modric, Marcelo Brozovic and Mateo Kovacic.

Unfortunately, some of the attacks launched weren’t effective in dismantling the defense of the Blue Samurai, the nickname of the Japanese national team. On the other hand, Hajime Moriyasu’s troops, who played with a pressing scheme, actually had a golden opportunity thanks to Shogo Taniguchi’s header.

However, the ball slid just into the right side of Dominik Livakovic’s post. The two teams that played persistently showed an attack trading game. This situation continued until the start of the game in the 20th minute.

Then Vatreni, nickname of the Croatian national team, lowered the pace of the game. Even so, Zlatko Dalic’s team slowly built attacks that threatened Samurai Blue’s defense. Luckily the Japanese national team was able to anticipate it well.

Vatreni, late, continues to hammer the defense of the Japanese national team. The result was sweet, Ivan Perisic (55′) managed to bring Croatia level with his deadly header. The Tottenham Hotspur player converted Dejan Lovren’s mature bait, the temporary position was 1-1.
