A Japanese woman sentenced to death for killing two men died in prison when she stuck food in her throat and suffocated in her own prison cell, writes New York Post which quotes Japanese Japan Times.
Collapsed
The 49-year-old woman, named Miyuki Ueta, was imprisoned in Hiroshima, Japan. On Sunday afternoon, she is said to have lost consciousness while eating one of the day’s meals in the prison.
Such was the dramatic escape
Prison guards reportedly tried to remove the food from her throat and initiated several life-saving measures, but without success. Less than three hours later, she was pronounced dead at the hospital, according to the Japan Times.
The cause of death was confirmed to be as a result of suffocation.
The woman convicted of murder is said to have taken a number of medications for health problems, and is said to have already been taken to hospital a week earlier after collapsing while eating.

Drowned
Ueta was, according to the New York Times, sentenced to death in 2017. The court determined that she had a serious criminal responsibility after knowingly and intentionally killing two men in a brutal manner.
The verdict determined that in 2009 Ueta should have drugged two men, at two different times, before she drowned them both. One of them in the sea, and the other in a river.
According to the verdict, her motive was to avoid repaying debts to both men, writes the Japan Times. The woman herself has denied criminal guilt.
