Japan Buys Indonesian Palm Oil Shells for US$12 Million Per Year, For What?

VIVA – Biomass industry business actors Japan going to buy shells palm from Indonesia worth US$12 million per year. This purchase was made to support the mix renewable energy in that country.

Transaction potential export This is the result of the facilitation of the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) with the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) Jakarta and the Employers’ Association Palm shells (APCASI).

The Director General of National Export Development at the Ministry of Trade Didi Sumedi said this purchase commitment would continue to maintain Indonesia’s trade surplus going forward.

“Commodities with the potential to export with high demand and selling value in the global market, one of these commodities is palm oil shells,” he said Saturday, November 27, 2021.

He said Japan is currently the largest market for palm kernel shells and is expected to continue to be the main market for the commodity. This is supported by Japan’s energy policy which stipulates that 24 percent of energy fulfillment in Japan in 2030 must come from new and renewable energy.

Previously, in April 2021, Japan had received shipments of 10 thousand tons of palm shells by PT International Green Energy and 11 thousand tons of PT Prima Khatulistiwa Sinergi in early November 2021.
