Janssen vaccines arrive to strengthen the plan that includes the migrant population in Colombia

In the last hours, the United States Embassy in Bogotá shared that the search to mitigate and prevent the spread of covid-19 in Colombia is one of its main interests. For this reason, the international organization ratifies its support for the country in this fight against the virus, which has claimed the lives of millions of people around the world.

“Our support for Colombia in the fight against covid-19 does not stop”, shared the US embassy on its official Twitter profile.

This is how one of the most effective alternatives that have circulated in all corners have been vaccines, which have yielded effective but not definitive results.

It is no secret to anyone that covid-19 is still around in the different sectors and although its impact is already less, immunization is key to largely mitigate fatal consequences that affect the health of Colombians and, in general, of the world population.

In order to continue dealing with this issue, the United States Embassy in Bogotá stated that More than one million doses of the Janssen vaccine arrived in Colombia on the night of Saturday, June 4.

Indeed, the US control and monitoring body specified: “We have made great strides in the face of the pandemic, but we know that this is not the time to let our guard down.”

With this contribution of immunizations, Colombia feeds its vaccine plan that the Government and the Ministry of Health have advanced for months.

For her part, the vice president, Marta Lucía Ramírez, wanted to thank the US president, Joe Biden, and the secretary of state, Antony Blinken. “Thank you @POTUS @SecBlinken for vaccines for Colombia,” the public official recently wrote.

Similarly, the Colombian Foreign Ministry spoke out for the contribution of immunizations from the United States for the country. Those in charge of formulating, guiding, executing and evaluating foreign policy on integration and border development reported that In total, one million eight thousand doses of the Janssen vaccine were received.

Together, they stated that “this donation will be key to strengthening the national vaccination plan, which includes the migrant population in Colombia.”

The Foreign Ministry says that the United States is positioned as the main cooperating partner for Colombia in terms of support for the health emergency as a result of covid-19.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Health answered one of the questions that has been questioned the most by the older adult population in relation to the application of the booster vaccine:

At what time should people over 50 years of age and people with particular clinical conditions receive the second booster dose of the covid-19 vaccine?

The government body, which focuses on the health of the entire national territory, ruled that The application time of the second booster of the covid-19 vaccine, in people over 50 years of age, is four months after the first booster.

On the other hand, regarding the population with particular clinical conditions, under medical recommendation, the established time is 30 days after receiving their first booster.

The Ministry of Health reminds Colombians that protecting themselves and others from covid-19 and other respiratory infections is something that cannot go unnoticed, as the use of masks in some places should not be ignored either, regardless of the vaccination coverage that a city or municipality in the country has.
