Janssen still criticizes Brobbey: ‘Making too many childish mistakes’

Theo Janssen thinks so Brian Brobbey Ajax better to play football late. In Rondo, the analyst considers Brobbey’s role under Francesco Farioli, and Youri Mulder also comments on the attacker’s form.

Brobbey was applauded by his teammates after his goal against Maccabi Tel Aviv, much to Janssen’s delight. “It’s good that they are reacting like this. We can say that Brobbey has been much more important to Ajax in terms of football recently and is really holding his own ,” said Janssen, who believes Francesco Farioli’s team is stronger in terms of Brobbey’s football. However, Janssen has areas for the attacker to improve. “It’s good that you also as a striker score from time to time. He makes too many childish mistakes when he finishes, by putting his foot wrong, by being lazy or by too quick. The finish needs to be better.”

Mulder does not think it is desirable for Brobbey that he is unsure of his place at Ajax. “It’s always a changing of the guard for him. One week he’s not in the game, the next week he is. That worries a striker. You want to get into your rhythm and make sure you always play, but Farioli does things differently and that pays off too,” said Mulder.

The former striker for FC Twente and Schalke 04, among others, expects Brobbey to regain form in the future. “As a striker you sometimes find yourself in such a time. Then it looks like things aren’t going well technically, but you also have times when you put your foot against it wrongly and the ball still flies in. You should not give up sitting down at some point you will get through.”
