“Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) Covid-19 Vaccine No Longer Available in US: What You Need to Know”

Washington, May 15 (EFE).- The Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) covid-19 vaccine is no longer available in the United States, after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have requested the destruction of all doses not yet administered, which expired on Sunday, May 7.

In a note posted on its website, the CDC recommends that people who have received one or two doses of the vaccine receive a bivalent booster from Moderna or Pfizer.

According to CNN, some 19 million people have received doses of Janssen’s vaccine since it went on the market in the United States.

The Government made more than 31 million doses of this serum available to the states, so more than 12 million have remained unused.

In addition, last year regulators limited the number of people who could access the vaccine, establishing that only those who for medical reasons could not receive doses from other manufacturers would be vaccinated with Janssen.

Last week, the health emergency approved by the US authorities to fight the pandemic came to an end, ending some of the measures to facilitate access to healthcare that were approved due to covid.

The country accumulates the highest number of deaths from the disease in the world: more than a million people since the pandemic began.

During the week ending May 6 (the last week for which there are records), 323 people died, according to the CDC.
