Jank will lose eight matches and ten percent of his salary due to the intervention in Machal

Hockey defender Bohumil Jank from Hradec Králové received an additional disciplinary penalty for eight competitive matches for his intervention against Kladno striker Ondřej Machala. In addition, the 29-year-old will also lose 10 percent of his basic monthly salary. Viktor Ujčík, chairman of the disciplinary commission of the extra-league, decided on the sentence in summary proceedings after studying the record.

Very reckless intervention was born in the second third of Tuesday’s match of the 33rd round, in which the Mountfield team won 9: 2 in Chomutov over the home team Kladno. With a clear score of 7: 1 in favor of the East Bohemians, Jank hit the 22-year-old Machal hard after playing the disc and immediately received a penalty of five minutes and until the end of the match for an illegal intervention in the head or neck. Machala lay helplessly on the ice, and the fight ended for him as he left the arena on a stretcher and headed for an examination at the hospital.

“The player conducted his intervention in a particularly dangerous and reckless manner, without any effort to play the disc. The player (Jank) transferred all the weight to the right side before the collision and, beyond any doubt, struck the opponent with considerable force with his right shoulder with a direct blow to the head area, “Ujčík described.

Due to the reckless and dangerous method of implementation, he included the intervention in the category of serious offenses. That is why the additional penalty for illegal intervention in the head or neck is so high. In addition, Ujčík took into account that Jank had been disciplined twice in the past two years and that Machala had suffered a head injury during the operation, due to which he did not finish the match.

Beyond the decision, Ujčík called the startling fact that although Machala had suffered injuries in the collision that required a doctor’s intervention and remained lying helplessly on the ice, Jank, who was leaving him on the penalty bench, did not show the slightest interest or regret over the consequences of his intervention.

Jank, who collected 31 penalty minutes in the match, is one of the stable members of Mountfield’s defense. So far, he has played 29 matches this season and scored five points for four goals and a record. However, he will not be able to add another start until January 19 during the match of the 43rd round in Litvínov.

The highest penalties in the stand-alone extraleague were bans for 15 matches. Zdeněk Okál, Anatolij Najda, Ladislav Blažek, Zdeněk Eichenmann, Aleš Píša and most recently in April 2005 Pavel Kubina were awarded for attacking or criticizing the judges.
