Jānis Miķelsons: Embracing Electric Cars for Business Efficiency and Cost Reduction

Jānis Miķelsons is one of the company “Yes we can!” co-owners. His daily life is relatively active, because the workplace is not located in the capital, but the objects in which the company works are often several kilometers away. This does not bother Jānis, because he likes to be behind the wheel of a car – every day he drives 100, 150 or even 200 kilometers. For a classic vehicle with an internal combustion engine, this means a constant load, but for the company – large expenses not only in fuel, but also in car maintenance and repairs.

Cost reduction was also one of the main arguments in favor of purchasing an electric car for the needs of an entrepreneur. “Before, there was a “station wagon” – with the daily mileage, insurance, CASCO, repairs, leasing, I got much more than buying a new car and charging it with electricity. What difference does it make to pay for – leasing or fuel?” Jānis thinks.

The choice in favor of CUPRA was self-evident – the businessman has long liked the SEAT brand, having previously driven the “Altea XL” and “Leon” models. In 2018, in Barcelona, ​​Spain, Jānis saw the “CUPRA Ateca” for the first time in his life and the idea stuck – if he ever buys a new car, it will definitely be a CUPRA. It wasn’t love at first sight – when he went to Barcelona later and visited the CUPRA car showroom, he didn’t like the car he saw. Later, the thoughts changed again, because Jānis believes in a certain belief. “I have a theory – if you don’t like the car, you will probably like it after some time. If you like it, it means that you will start to dislike it after a while. This theory applies to me now!” laughs the interlocutor.

This story has a happy ending, because Jānis’ company bought the electrified “CUPRA Born” in November of last year, with which he now travels on a daily basis. Before that, he had thought about the “CUPRA Formentor” hybrid car, but as Jānis admits, he was “reasonably dissuaded and persuaded to switch to a fully electric car”. In favor of “Born” was also the fact that this model has an expressive design.
