ZAGREB – Former successful skier Janica Kosteličová is expecting her second child at the age of 41.
The legendary Croatian athlete already has a son Oskar with her partner. According to the Croatian media, Kosteličová is in the second trimester of pregnancy, and recently vacationed on the islands of Brač and Hvar.
During her sports career, she has stated several times that she wants to be a good mother after it ends. In 2019, she gave birth to her first son and then completely withdrew from public life. She previously worked at the Ministry of Sports in her homeland.
Kosteličová has four Olympic gold medals to her credit – she won two in combined, one each in slalom and giant slalom, and she has two silvers from super-G. She is a five-time world champion.
She won two titles in slalom, two in combined and one in downhill. She recorded thirty victories in the World Cup, reached the podium 55 times and won the big crystal globe three times.
However, her career was marked by health problems. She had her thyroid gland removed in 2004, and later underwent a series of knee surgeries. She therefore had to miss the 2006/2007 season and announced her retirement at the end of it at the age of 25.
