Jangseong ‘K-Food’ enters the US market… $3.3 million export agreement

County Governor Kim Han-jong “Join hands with Jeollanam-do, the city of taste, and actively support it.”

Attention is focused on the results of Jangseong-gun‘s visit to the United States from October 24th to 31st.

According to the military on the 12th, ‘K-food’ from Jangseong, including frozen gimbap, rice crackers, and plum kimchi, signed an export agreement worth a total of $3.3 million and began exploring the U.S. market in earnest.

The tour was accompanied by County Governor Kim Han-jong, Yoon Mi-sook, CEO of Hyundai Food System Co., Ltd., a food company in the Jangseong area, Kim Jeong-gwang, CEO of Orlbareum, and Kim Eui-byeong, CEO of Dawn Farm Kimchi.

They attended the completion ceremony of the Jeonnam Garden of the Korean Cultural Center in New York, the promotional event for Jeonnam-produced agricultural and specialty foods at North America’s largest Korean supermarket ‘H-Mart’, and the ‘Hanbok Day’ ceremony in New Jersey to promote Jangseong food to overseas consumers.

The outcome of the promotional event was ‘contract conclusion’.

Following Dawn Farm’s signing of a $300,000 contract with the headquarters of Hi-Lee Marketing, the Hannam chain’s Fullerton branch signed a $3 million agricultural and specialty food export agreement with Jangseong-gun.

News of the contract continued even after the U.S. tour.

About 10 million won worth of Orbarum rice crackers were exported to a Los Angeles distribution store, and Hyundai Food System Co., Ltd. decided to export 40 million won worth of frozen gimbap and japchae to New York.

Founded in 2013, Hyundai Food System Co., Ltd. is the only instant food manufacturer in Jeollanam-do with frozen food export capabilities.

We supply lunch boxes, gimbap, triangle gimbap, hamburgers, etc. to over 10,000 stores across the country.

This year, the company was selected for the ‘Jeollanam-do Frozen Gimbap Production and Commercialization Facility’ contest and entered the overseas market.

The frozen gimbap, which is on its way to export, is made with seaweed from Jeonnam and Jangseong rice, which are attracting global attention as ‘superfoods’.

Orbarum, a company that produces rice snacks for infants, is famous for its nickname ‘Dokdo Rice Snacks.’

Starting in 2021, the phrase ‘Dokdo is Korean land’ and a photo are being included on the back of the packaging.

Recently, an anecdote was made public about an anecdote in which a Japanese export buyer offered a contract worth 15% of annual sales on the condition that the Dokdo phrase be removed, but the company refused.

It has received HACCP certification, and its taste and color are created using only raw ingredients without chemical additives.

Dawn Farm makes ‘the most delicious kimchi in Korea.’

It won the grand prize at the 12th Korea Kimchi Competition held last year.

The representative menu item, ‘Plume Dawn Kimchi’, has a refreshing and clean taste made with undiluted plum juice and fruit juice.

Jangseong-gun provided support in various ways, including the cabbage kimchi seasoning equipment support project.

County Governor Kim Han-jong said, “We will continue to provide active support by joining hands with Jeonnam Province, the home of delicious food, so that the safe food from ‘Growth Great Wall’, which boasts a naturally blessed environment, can capture the taste buds of people around the world.”
