Janet Jackson is ready to do #MeToo checkups on her upcoming tour.
The 56-year-old pop icon will be back on the road this year for her Together Again tour and is reportedly following in superstar Beyoncé’s footsteps by vetted her staff to make sure she has no history of sexual abuse.
“No incidents of abuse on CV”
A source told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “Janet is emulating Beyoncé and conducting #MeToo checkups as she prepares for her ‘Together Again’ tour. The checkups screen everyone from their dancers and bandmates to the crew and to the staff, to ensure they do not have any incidents of abuse on their resumes.
The insider added that while the action will be costly for the “All For You” hitmaker, she is willing to prioritize creating a safe work environment for such a “massive event” over bottom line. The source added: ‘It also wants a totally non-toxic working environment for all its staff and by implementing these early checks it is eliminating the risk. Janet’s ‘Together Again’ tour is expected to gross over £70m and will be a huge event. “A show of the magnitude that Janet is planning can’t afford anything to happen. Janet is determined that everyone working on the tour can feel completely at ease and that they are in a safe environment.”
