Jandino Asporaat has the plan to move with his family to Curaçao next year. The 39-year-old comedian wants to live on the island where he comes from for half the year, he says on Thursday in a radio broadcast from Paradise FM.
Asporaat, who is currently in Curaçao for a vacation, visited two potential schools for his son and daughter on Wednesday.
“That was very exciting. At the first school I wanted to cry. Not because the school was bad, but I felt the tension. Oh my God, I am going to take my kids here …” said the actor and comedian.
“The second school is more in line with their current situation in which they are in. I could breathe a little more, I could still imagine that. But I am seriously working on establishing ourselves here on Curaçao.” Asporaat also wants to take his mother to the island, he says.
The comedian recently announced that he had plans to build a city on the island. In collaboration with a housing association and an energy company he will build “New Korsou” on an area of 132 hectares. “Digitization, sustainability, inclusiveness and education” are the most important pillars of the city, he says. Construction is scheduled to start in 2023.
Asporaat grew up in Willemstad and moved to Rotterdam as a teenager in the 1990s.
