“He is not very sick, but the virus has caught him anyway,” said Lien just before the start of the film. “He’s been quarantined for a while now and sleeps in the guest room, but he also has the cinema room to himself, so that seclusion will not be too bad,” she winks. “On Friday he underwent a second test and we are still waiting for that result. The doctors were apparently already able to deduce that he is no longer so contagious.”

The lack of the director in Lichtervelde did not spoil the fun, however. “Jan has a bond with this beautiful popular cinema, so it’s a shame he couldn’t be there. Many of his films have premiered here. But in December there will be the premiere of ‘Bittersweet Sixiteen, Anna’s first film, so who knows, maybe that will open up opportunities to come down here together again.’
