The autumn “Shall we dance” season is well under way, and the broadcasts have been well received by the public and eager fans. Of course, the participants’ close friends, family and girlfriends have also appeared on several of the broadcasts.
Among them is the girlfriend of Harlem Alexander (35), celebrity stylist, Jan Thomas (56). He has also secured a permanent place in the hall at Fornebu every Saturday.
But during last week’s broadcast, it was too much for Jan Thomas, who had to flee the room during the news break.
Ran away from the fans
Despite the fact that Jan Thomas is not a participant in this season, he can tell Nettavisen that there has been a lot of attention around him in recent Saturdays.
When there is a break in the “Shall we dance” broadcasts with news and sport on TV 2, there are many in the audience in the hall who take the opportunity to secure some selfies and unique meetings with the celebrity participants.
But Jan Thomas experiences the same pressure as the participants – if not more:
– It will be a bit of a drag. Now I’ve been working in Norway since 2001, and that pull is still there, says the celebrity stylist to Nettavisen about the requests from fans.
The 56-year-old was swarmed by eager fans who wanted to secure a picture with the celebrity stylist, which led to him having to take action.
Now he has entered into an agreement with TV 2 that he can stay in a closed room during the news break.
– I will be allowed to withdraw together with the production during the break. I think it has been very nice, he says.
Furthermore, Jan Thomas says that he has discovered a great advantage in staying in the break room. There are large quantities of chocolate there, which he eats well.
Uses the savings on votes
Despite the escape from the fans and the “pull”, Jan Thomas emphasizes that he greatly appreciates those who have followed him for years.
– What would I do without that move? So I take those pictures, and stand there until everyone has had theirs. I just think it’s nice. I really don’t want to complain, he says humbly.
Jan Thomas himself participated in the dance competition, back in 2009. He has previously admitted to Nettavisen that “Shall we dance” was not a fun experienceand that the nerves before the broadcasts made it difficult for him to enjoy the dance adventure.
Now it is the girlfriend who gets to swing on the dance floor, and there is no doubt that Jan Thomas is proud of her boyfriend’s dancing skills. From the first episode, he has been confident that Alexander will make it to the final.
– My beloved Harlem will be in the final, he claims.
– How much money have you spent on voting for Harlem?
– A lot of money. It’s five kroner per vote, and I’ll start as soon as I arrive. I will do that until it is no longer possible to vote. Maybe one vote a minute, he reveals.
However, he has not calculated the total amount he has spent on the votes.
– It is worth spending your savings on. It is important because Harlem is so incredibly talented, and many people therefore think that he will make it anyway. But you have to vote, says Jan Thomas.
