Jan Slagter will stop as director of Omroep Max at the end of 2024, he says in an interview with de Volkskrant. “My succession has already been arranged,” says Slagter.

Who that successor will be, Max will announce in the course of next year. Until then, Slagter (69) will remain the director.

“I still really enjoy it – at least, coming up with programs,” he says. “What I am done with in this village is the management, the meetings and the working groups. I will soon turn down the pit in that area.”

He plans to continue to be the face of Omroep Max after his retirement. “I present a program here and there, maybe do the members’ day, see how long I can keep that up.”

Slagter founded Omroepvereniging Max in 2002 because he felt that too few programs were made for the over-50s. In 2005, his broadcaster was admitted to the system. With 430,000 members, Omroep Max is now the largest broadcaster in the Netherlands.
