Jan Köppen inherited Daniel Hartwich as jungle presenter in 2023. In 2024 he will also welcome Sonja Zietlow to the show – and he is slowly becoming RTL’s new all-purpose weapon.
“I’m a celebrity, get me out of here!” is currently in its 20th year – Jan Köppen is there as presenter for the second time. The 40-year-old is once again hosting the reality TV show with Sonja Zietlow. After Daniel Hartwich and Dirk Bach, Köppen is their third jungle partner.
Jan Henryk Köppen was born in Giessen in 1983. After graduating from high school in 2002, he did his community service and began studying law and business administration. He broke off this and began an internship at the music station Viva Plus in Cologne in 2005. Köppen had already worked as a DJ before.
With Viva Plus he moved from Cologne to Berlin at the end of 2005, where he worked as a trainee at MTV-Networks Germany GmbH until 2007. During this time he worked as a video journalist for programs such as “VIVA Top 100”, “VIVA Live!”, “VIVA Liederladen Top 20” and “VIVApedia”. From 2008 he presented the consumer program “Wirtschaftswunder” on ZDFinfo and from 2013 the travel and science magazine “Abtreib” for ZDFneo.

His interests
Jan Köppen enjoys spending his free time with his dog. The moderator occasionally shows pictures of Suki on Instagram. Köppen didn’t initially have an easy time with the street dog. She made his life incredibly difficult because she “killed everything on the street,” he once told RTL. But the two have been inseparable for over two and a half years.
In addition, singing has “always been a passion and a hobby” for Köppen, he tells RTL. “Who knows, maybe another album will come out at some point, but that remains the classic ‘dream’.” In 2020, he released several songs that he recorded and produced during the lockdown, including the song “22 km/h”.
He also produced the music for several podcasts such as “Hotel Matze” and “Hebammen Salon”. He also lives out his creativity in art. He currently only exhibits his images on his website. He also exercises restraint in his external appearance. Some time ago he simply revealed that he doesn’t have any children, but has a partner and lives with her.
