Actor and dancer Jan Kooijman is writing a drama series about undesirable behavior in the dance world. The project is called Powermove and will count eight episodes. The screenplay is almost finished, the cast has not yet been announced.
Producer Ginger Fiction, the drama branch of Vincent TV Productions, has a message about this from the AD confirmed. Kooijman has been writing the story since 2019.
The series, which is screened in the Netherlands, is about a successful choreographer who stands out for her deviating working method. According to Kooijman, the series “explores a gray area in which abuse of power is discussed: is a manager aware of the fact that she crosses boundaries?”
It is not yet clear when the series will go into production. “We are looking for partners. As soon as we have made a decision, we can start planning and casting,” says Vincent ter Voert of Ginger Fiction. “We have a pilot episode and a fully developed synopsis and there is already foreign interest.”
It is not the intention that Kooijman himself will play a role in the series. Ginger Fiction presents Powermove this weekend at MIPCOM, a major television fair in Cannes, France.
