Krefeld The Krefeld Zoo reports a record: Jan, the sloth, has passed the 50-year-old age mark and has thus received an entry in the Guiness Book of Records.
Jan sloth from the Krefeld Zoo has been the record holder since this year and is officially the oldest of its kind in human hands. There is a corresponding section in the Guinness Book of Records.

So far, Jan was in second place. After the death of the sloth Paula in the Halle an der Saale mountain zoo, he moved up to first place. Jan came to the Hagenbeck Zoo in Hamburg in 1970. He was between six and twelve months old at the time. In April 1986 he moved to Krefeld.
