The beginnings
Born on May 12, 1969. A graduate of the Faculty of Architecture at the Warsaw University of Technology. In 1996, he obtained a discharge from the Directing Department at the National Film School in Łódź. He was the author and co-author of many scripts and film, theater and advertising productions, as well as radio plays, and several dozen documentary films.
First successes
His directorial debut “Przystań” was awarded many times at film festivals all over Poland and screened at festivals abroad. He was the author of many, also awarded, commercials and music videos. His second feature film “The Third”, which was released in cinemas in 2005, was also well received at Polish and foreign festivals.
In 2010, he made the film “Trick”, a criminal story with a grain of salt. Later, he prepared one of the most popular and most awarded Polish series – “Czas honoru. Powstanie”, for which he was awarded the Eagle.
“Zenek” and unfinished “Kantor”
Two years ago he worked on the film “Zenek”, which was devoted to the life and career of the disco-polo singer Zenek Martyniuk. “It does not matter whether it is popular music, disco polo or sacred music. It is a secondary matter. In fact, if we have a need to express our emotions or self-expression, it is a better solution than suppressing it in ourselves” – he said about the production.
For several years he had been working on a film about Kantor, which he did not manage to finish. Borys Szyc played the main role. “There is hope that the film” Kantor. I Will Never Return Here “will be finished, however, the director said in an interview with” Gazeta Wyborcza “.
