Forty-two-year-old Jan Albrecht won the final of the MasterChef Czech culinary competition. He previously worked in the management of luxury restaurants. But then he decided to radically change his life and makes a living as an instructor. That may change now after his victory. He overcooked Kuba and Terka in a competition of amateur chefs. He won over the demanding judges with his three-course menu.
The audience could watch the very exciting final of MasterChef Czech Republic 2023 on Wednesday evening. Jan Albrecht won in the end, but it didn’t look like that at all in the first part of the competition. “I also had a moment when I thought that I’m done with it, that I can’t really do it anymore, but I was joking normally. Let everyone remember that it’s always possible, that you need to fight and break it and it worked,” admitted Albrecht.
In addition to the title of best amateur chef, the winner of MasterChef Czech Republic also won 2.5 million crowns and did not hide his emotions immediately after the results were announced. “I’m still in shock, I couldn’t even express my emotions properly. That day was extremely demanding,” Honza described his feelings.
Honza was also supported in the final by his 15-year-old daughter Lilian. “I’m quite shocked. I’m really proud that he managed it, that he went after it like that and now he’s just holding the prize in his hand. I admitted him, but then he pulled it all off himself. He drove a terrible bomb. Sometimes he needed a little push, but he did it. It’s unbelievable and it will take me a while to realize that it really happened,” she commented on her father’s victory.
The jury is also proud of Honza. “I am absolutely thrilled with Honza’s victory, because the meals he cooked, and especially the journey he traveled from the first part to the finish line, is incredible. He did extremely well in the final,” said judge Jan Punchochář.
The jury believes that, even though the race was close, they made the right decision in the end. ”It was extremely difficult to decide between Terka, Kuba and Honza, because all three gave their best, but Honza performed a bit better. I’m glad that he is the new MasterChef,” added Radek Kašpárek, another of the judges.
“I think at the beginning of the finale night, things didn’t go well for Honzo. He ran away from the gravedigger a little bit and in the end he turned the whole thing to his advantage. Maybe he had it all planned. I really don’t know, but it turned out absolutely great for him and I’m rubbing his menu it tasted awful,” concluded the third judge, Přemek Forejt.
