The letter X at the end of the alphabet usually represents the unknown in mathematical equations, which you must be able to find by exercising your ingenuity. Therefore, taking over the usual role of this letter wrapped in a veil of mystery, Ik or X generation is also heard about all kinds of mysteries quite often, and even the fateful X hour is invoked when thinking about the unprecedented and frightening. Jamie xx aka James Thomas Smith British indie rock band The xx in concerts, he has always been hidden somewhere in the back behind bassist Oliver Sim and guitarist Romia Medley-Croft, whose beautiful vocal duo has become almost as indisputable value in the past decade as Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard, who are expected in Riga this year Dead Can Dance.

Under the management of James in Latvia a couple of times with wonderful concerts (the first was Positive, the second one in Sigulda) in the former group was music production, rhythm and electronic sounds. He first used the pseudonym Jamie xx when he released the group’s debut album in 2009, along with some of his solo electronic work. From then on, he increasingly turned to various musicians (Florence + The Machine, Radiohead, Adele, etc.) for remixing records and released his own music, in which the swirls of electronic sounds that can be heard perfectly meet the requirements of modern dance music and have even inspired many other artists around the world who try to copy him. A few years ago at the festival Opener In Poland, Jamie xx performed a DJ set that was a great party with both remixes and original music. He has already earned more demand with his solo albums than with the band. However, behind the row of hardware (whatever is stuck in that row) there is a person hidden in the distance – it’s usually more of a disco, where sound quality and power, light games and people dancing next to you are more important than what happens on the stage, because it’s just as well there may be an equally talented, but little-known DJ outside of Latvia, who perfectly mixes records with The xx and other wonderful remixes.
