“James Webb” monitors the birth of a star

Prepared by: Mustafa Al-Zoubi

NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope has captured images of the birth of a cosmic star, providing vital clues about star formation.

The scholars explained that such an image is of particular importance. Because it reveals the formation of the universe.

Before observing the star’s birth, the researchers at the University of California focused on deep pits inside the vacuum of space, which contain polycyclic hydrocarbons, which are small particles of dust the size of a molecule that play a large role in the formation of stars.

Astrophysicists do not yet know exactly how hydrocarbons evolve or function.

What experts do know is that when PAHs absorb a photon from a star, they vibrate and produce emission features that can be detected in the mid-infrared electromagnetic spectrum.
