Cowboys wide receiver James Washington will undergo foot surgery following his injury in training camp.
After being injured on Monday during a 7 against 7 exercise, James Washington has undergone additional tests regarding this injury. These confirmed a fracture of the fifth metatarsus of the right foot.
Washington will have surgery Tuesday in Dallas and the Cowboys expect him to miss 10 weeks. He could return approximately from Week 6.
Drafted in the second round of the 2018 Draft by the Steelers, the 26-year-old player has just arrived in Dallas where he signed for one season. In Pittsburgh, he had his best season in 2019 when he caught for 735 yards et 3 touchdowns.
This injury is, to say the least, quite embarrassing for the franchise. After losing Amari Cooper in the offseason, the Cowboys were counting on Washington to play alongside CeeDee Lamb while awaiting the return of Michael Gallup from injury.
Now it’s time for the competition between the receivers and it will be interesting to watch the battle that will be played out at camp with Jalen Tolbert, Noah Brown, Simi Fehoko as actors.
