James Rodríguez returns to Europe. All established!

James Rodríguez will fly to Greece today to finalize his loan from Al-Rayyan SC to Olympiacos, says Fabrizio Romano.

Thus, the Greek tycoon carries out a market coup just before closing the window, because in Greece it lasts until midnight from Thursday to Friday.

If the previous reports prove to be true, the Piraeus club will assume the obligation to pay 50% of the 31-year-old’s salary, the rest will remain in Qatar. The loan will last until June 30, 2023.

The Colombian attacking midfielder traveled to Qatar in September 2021 from Everton for eight million euros. Despite his high expectations, he didn’t do great things, even though he still scored five goals and seven assists in 15 games for Al-Rayyan SC.

Rodríguez has been playing in Europe since 2010, when he moved from Banfield to FC Porto. After three years he was bought by AS Monaco for 45 million euros, and after another year and the great performance of the World Cup in Brazil, Real Madrid themselves decided to make a big transfer, amounting to 75 million euros.

In Spain, however, he did not become a big star and in the summer of 2017 he left Real Madrid, lending Bayern Munich for two years. In the summer of 2020 he moved to the Premier League at Everton without a transfer fee.

Recently, there has been speculation about a Colombian moving to Turkey, but he ended up in Greece.

At Olympiacos he will only be able to play in local competitions, because it is too late to register for the Europa League.
