Owner of an important international career, James Rodríguez also has a stint in peripheral championships such as Qatar. In statements addressed to Globe Sportsthe current São Paulo midfielder revealed some of the difficulties in adapting to the customs of that Asian country.
«Life and culture in Qatar are very difficult, it was a country to which I had difficulty adapting. In football, everyone showers naked, but my teammates told me: “You can’t do it like that”. I was scared”, confessed the Colombian international.
«Everyone eats with their hands and that was difficult for me too. They gave me food and I said “No, thank you”. I asked for cutlery and they told me to eat with my hands, to which I replied “you’re crazy, I’m not going to eat with my hands”, he further revealed.
In just over a season serving Al-Rayyan, James Rodríguez made 16 games, scored five goals and assisted on six occasions. Currently working for São Paulo, the former FC Porto player counts 14 challengesone goal and three assists, since joining the club in mid-2023.
