James reveals the fierce competition at England right-back

Reece James currently on fire from Chelsea. But in England national team, he will have to compete for a place at right-back with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Kyle Walker.

Reece James is in excellent form with Chelsea this season. Despite playing as a right-wing defender, he is very aggressive in assisting attacks.

The 21-year-old has scored four goals and provided four assists in 12 games for the Blues in all competitions this season. James even became Chelsea’s most fertile player this season.

However, his slick appearance with Chelsea did not necessarily make James seal a place in the England national team’s right-back position. Because the competition in this position is so fierce.

He has to fight for a place in the Three Lions Team with Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool) and Kyle Walker (Walker). The last two names have appeared consistently in the last few years with the club.

James, Alexander-Arnold and Walker have been called up again to coach the England national team. Gareth Southgate for the international break this week. England will face Albania and San Marino in the 2022 World Cup Qualifiers on November 13 and 16.

James admits that the competition in the England right-back sector with Alexander-Arnold and Walker is indeed very tight. However, the 21-year-old defender believes that their competition is very healthy.

The three of them put aside the rivalry at the club while in the England national team. They support each other for the best for England national team.

“Each of us has a different style of play. Trent has obviously been at the top for a few years now and Kyle Walker too, so the competition is very tight,” said James quoted by Sky Sport.

“There are other full-backs who are not here as well who are also at a very good level. I am competing with very good players, it is difficult and we just have to support each other.

“When we are here you know you have to put club competition aside and when we are here we are one team and our aim is to win and it doesn’t matter who we play against, we have to put that aside and focus on our job here.” .

James is still having trouble shifting Walker, who is the first choice with Alexander-Arnold, who is the second option in the right-back sector. James has just packed eight caps for England.
