Brighton have announced the signing of James Milner, who is leaving Liverpool after eight years. The 37-year-old veteran signed a one-year contract with his new employer with an option…
Milner played in 31 league games last season, mostly as a substitute, after which Liverpool announced a month ago that they would not extend the seasoned player’s expiring contract.
However, the former Albion international will continue to operate in England’s top flight, having signed for Brighton on a one-year option, with fellow midfielder Alexis Mac Allister heading in the opposite direction.
“We are delighted to have James join us after a very successful spell at Liverpool. His experience speaks for itself, looking at the number of games played and trophies won.” technical director David Weir praises the new acquisition.
“These matches include European competitions, which will be of great value to us as we have our first season in Europe ahead of us.” added the Brighton official.

The Leeds United native is motivated, with just 13 games to go to overtake Ryan Giggs (632) for the most Premier League starts. Should he feature regularly for the Seagulls, he can also surpass Gareth Barry’s leader with 653 starts.
Milner leaves the Reds after 332 appearances in which he scored 26 goals and provided 46 assists. In the 2018/19 season, he participated in the triumph in the Champions League and helped to the league title the following season.
